Key achievements
Since the New Forest National Park was created in 2005 we’ve worked with partners and communities to protect and enhance the area and help people understand and enjoy this special place.
Bringing in millions of pounds to the Forest, here are a few of the key programmes we’ve led over recent years.
£1.3m scheme to restore New Forest habitats and increase wildlife
Species Survival Fund project
This £1.3m scheme from March 2024-2026 involved five partners working with us to help halt species decline and restore habitats in the New Forest.
£800,000 investment to link National Park habitats to neighbouring towns and cities
Green and Blue Horizons from City to Sea scheme
The £800,000 investment in the New Forest brought thousands of people together over 18 months to spring 2024 to extend nature networks and create wildlife-rich corridors that link National Park habitats to neighbouring towns and cities.
Youth projects, apprentice rangers and nature visits for disadvantaged young people
Generation Green
A £65,000 grant to support a Wild Spaces Youth Project and apprentice rangers from April 2021 – March 2022; followed by £74,800 to provide funded visits with the Countryside Education Trust (CET) for over 1,000 young people living in areas of social disadvantage to connect with the National Park over 12 months to July 2025.
