The New Forest Code
Public Service Protection Orders
Our partner New Forest District Council has put in force two Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) across specific restricted areas. The orders ban the following activities:
PSPO 1
- placing, throwing or dropping items likely to cause a fire
- or lighting fires (of any type) or barbeques (including disposable barbeques and any outdoor temporary cooking facilities or equipment).
This PSPO applies in this restricted area.
PSPO 2
- feeding or providing or depositing food for consumption by any New Forest pony, horse, mule or donkey
- or petting or touching any New Forest pony, horse, mule or donkey.
This PSPO applies in this restricted area.
Please let New Forest District Council know if you witness a breach by filling out the form below. Please complete all fields and share as much information as possible. This will be shared with authorised officers at Forestry England, National Park Authority and Verderers of the New Forest to consider hotspot areas for future patrolling.
If you see an active fire, or an unattended BBQ/campfires/cooking equipment you should get to a place of safety and call 999 to report it to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service.
If you are unsure of what is prohibited or which areas are covered, more information is available at https://newforest.gov.uk/PSPO.
