Meet New Forest Youth Board member Toby P from Chandlers Ford.

Favourite thing about / place in the New Forest?

Getting out for long weekend walks with friends, followed by a pub lunch at one of the many fantastic pubs that the forest has to offer. Alternatively exploring the many great cycling routes on my bike, that also tends to end with a pub lunch!

Why did you join the Youth Board?

Growing up with dogs and a family who loved camping, The new forest has always been in my life so when I discovered a friend who was within a 20-minute drive had never visited or had very minimal knowledge on what beauty it has. This interaction opened my perspective that not everyone has been given the exposure to the national park, once this opportunity come up to join the youth board it seemed like a great way to help spread the word about what wonders lie in the National park.

What skills do you have that could benefit the Youth Board?

I believe that my strengths which would be most beneficial for the Youth Board is a confidence for public speaking, I also pride myself on the ability to ask questions and challenge decisions. Weather it’s an online meeting or one of the many events the youth board will be getting involved in I will always offer good energy and passion.

What do you want to get from being a New Forest Youth Board member? What skills and knowledge would you like to develop?

I’m looking forward to collaborating with other young people who share the same passion for the national park, making more connections with other organisations who work in the Forest whilst I continue developing my knowledge in all aspects of the New Forest.
